"O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea"
Yesterday we enjoyed the Kingdom Kids' performance of the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, the Pledge to the Christian Flag, God Bless America, the Pledge to the Bible, and America the Beautiful (O Beautiful for Spacious Skies). This performance showed key parts of what the children learned during our September Children's ministry theme "God & America."
Pastor David discussed what the kids learned week by week and went on to give a sermon entitled "If not Jesus... who?" This sermon broke down the idea that Jesus was just a historical figure and provided key reasons why someone should believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord & Savior.
As some may enjoy the Federal holiday today and focus on American history, may we sing and pray these words over our country:
"God Bless America, Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home."
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14
